The politicised Civil Service for all to see?

The following is a memo written by a Civil Servant regarding how to tackle and attack the Conservative Party position on the controversial "Contactpoint" database that will contain information on every child. Isn't it wonderfully politically neutral?
Apparently, the list of people who will have access to this database is growing ever larger, now anyone who works within the Police force will be able to search it, from officers down to civilian duty officers.

Download the other half of the memo here

This is all part of the Fabian New Labour government's desire to politicise the Civil Service, police etc and is being carried out by Common Purpose.

No it isn't, it's part of an attempt to save the lives of some really disadvantaged children who are being failed horribly by a state trying to run medical, legal and social services for them with the technology of the 1920s.

Seems completely fair enough to me. The memo is hardly a call to arms against the Tories.

Doesn't much look like a politicised attack document to me...the writer even says "it is not for me to comment on claims made by the Opposition about whether to shut down ContactPoint".

Bit of a non-story, I think.

Sad indictemnt of the lack of spine in Whitehall. Should have just said 'Nothing to apologise for. Bog off'.

They should reply only to questions that might be asked of how this system would operate not "respond" to Tory calls for it to be shut. It is no business of a supposed non-political civil service to give rebuttals to statements made by a political party. If the Tories say something ZaNuLab want to counter then ZaNuLabs own (vey well paid )hacks should counter it, respond, not apolitical civil servants. ZaNu are entitled to ask civil servants for info, facts, figures which ZaNu should tthebn shape into rebuttals using their own time and money not the time and wages paid to civil servants. Some ZaNu trolls on here today.
