Whilst I don't particularly agree with him, Brian Haw, the boring and irritating anti-war campaigner that is camped outside Parliament is something of a mild amusement. This is mostly because he's managed to annoy the Government so much over the Iraq War that they actually created a law just to get rid of him. Then they got beaten in the courts about applying it retrospectively so the irritant remains. Like a coldsore it simply comes back.
So where does the Government go next? Has it given up and accepted that it can't get rid of him? Or are they planning some other way to justify moving him on out of Parliament Square? It seems that may be they are, and the I wouldn't be surprised if the next argument we hear is that Air Ambulances are unable to land because of him, which, conveniently, makes him in breach of the Emergency Workers (Obstruction) Act 2006.
Why do I say this? Well it's interesting to note that yesterday in Parliament, Stephen Pound MP, asked a couple of very specific questions. First he asked the Home Secretary, "what discussions he has had with the Metropolitan Police Commissioner on the number of semi-permanent dwellings in Parliament Square and the consequences of such obstructions if an air ambulance attempted to land."
And then he asked the Department of Health what steps they were "taking to ensure that the physical obstructions in Parliament square do not prevent an air ambulance landing at that location if required." Now, in fairness to the Government in both cases they deferred their answers saying that it was up to the pilot to make a decision on obstructions based on the landing protocol in place.
However, look at who asked the question. Stephen Pound, a very strong supporter of the Iraq War, totally opposed to investigating it, strongly supportive of Labour terror laws, and strongly against transparent Parliament. He also rarely rebels against the Government. Call me a cynic if you will, but he sounds like a place man starting a debate for someone else doesn't he?

It would be alright if he just had one sign, buts hes taken control of the whole of the railings. Can't someone just go and take them down when hes not looking?
You up for it Dizzy?
I don't see the problem. If the pilot needs to land, let him land.
If the idiot gets himself & his tatty collection of posters blown into the Thames by the rotor downdraft, problem solved!
Haven't they tried the men in white coats yet? Anyone who spends so much time in Parliament Square needs some medical attention surely?
Anon 2:56. Why does it have to be when he's not looking? He doesn't have any domain over the railings. Just take his tat down and put it in a bin.
(OTOH, I like it that he's still bugging Tony 'n' The Fascists.
Brian Haw is a fucking cunt and should just fuck off
No argument from me there. I am merely observing and reporting.
Where does he go to take a dump?
Does he have a job? The lazy fucker.
Pinochet would have sorted him out.
Does he have a job? The lazy fucker.
You're obviously just a reactionary snob. He has a perfect right to do what he is doing, especially as it isn't on my doorstep.
In the photo on his website, he appears to be almost under a lamp post. So he should be safe there from the blades, but not the draught.
So he's been there 2196 days, eh? So where DOES he take a dump?!
For fucks sake! I think any man who annoys TB as much as Brian Haw deserves a fucking VC.
You may think he's a lazy bastard, but if we were all prepared to go to the lengths he's gone to to oppose that which this government has done which we think is wrong then we would have got rid of this bunch of cunts some time ago and the country I once loved would stand a chance of recovery. As it is we'll have to wait another 2-3 years for the chance.
I thought it was Julain Lewis MP who wanted to get rid of him...
Stephen Pound is a slimly toady and it wouldn't surprise me if he acting as some form of legislative preejaculate.
