Health and Safety fears put Portcullis House flagpole out of action

Apparently the flagpole on Portcullis House is not in use on the grounds of health and safety. Now, I might be wrong on this, but if a flagpole is out of use on such grounds would it not be wiser just to take the bloody thing down?

Apparently, if the flagpole were in use, the Union Flag, rather than the flag of St George would be flown on St Georges Day. No flag, according to the Government, however would be flown on St David's or St Andrew's day. How strange.

Take it down and replace with two. As we have in Labour Manchester. Union and home countries flag can be flown together. Union flag always getting priority. It was famously flown at half mast for a few days at the start of the Iraq War. Perhaps we could have all Union flags at half mast while British troops are killing and being killed in action?
