How an MP can manage the local newspaper coverage

It's easy, honestly. Just table a motion in Parliament telling the country how your local paper is the best thing since sliced bread and you're laughing! You know they'll report that (especially if you send them a press release), and they'll probably be lovely to you for a while afterwards too!

Don't worry, no one ever reads EDMs except boring saddos *cough*. And they don't cost a lot either! After all, Parliament's been back for just four days and so far the EDM bill is only about £15,000. What's £15K between friends when you can get yourself some local journalistic love with the stroke of a pen?

I wonder how that £15k breaks down. Are we talking heat, light and staffing for the time those EDMs were read out?

Bet they offer him a job when he leaves politics, I am sure that a local newspaper will need a glorified tea boy.

EDMs are never read out. The main cost is that of printing them each day.
