This isn't particularly interesting but has at least sparked enough interest to make me post about it. Basically, since 2002 civil servants at the Department of Transport have received lots of gifts from lots of different places. However, there seems to be a recurring source of gifts throughout over that period, basically, the Chinese Government or off-shoots thereof.
They're not very big gifts you understand, just things like commemorative coins, chocolates, pens, mouse mats etc. So don't think I'm suggesting something dark and/or sinister going on. I just thought it was interesting that people from within the Chinese government apparatus were lavishing corporate type freebies on senior civil servants in the Department of Transport.
