Would you pay for blogging advice from Dolly?

There's a rather intresting event in the offing coming up if anyone is interested. PR Week - current political story uber-scoopers, are holding a New Media in Practice conference. According to the blurb on Haymarket Events the second session sounds like it could be scream,
Gain An Insight Into The Mindset And Activities Of Bloggers And Citizen Journalists And Get The Tone Right To Achieve Maximum Coverage For Your Brand

  • Perfect your blogger outreach strategy: how can you find and engage with relevant independent and non-independent bloggers online and build relationships with the organisations publishing the blogs
  • How do you best communicate with bloggers, what information do they need and in what format?
  • How can PR professionals facilitate positive public opinion of their product and encourage citizen journalists to advocate their brand?Tap into the increasing numbers of citizen journalists and interact with their online activity: do they signal the death of the ‘traditional journalist’?
Derek Draper, Editor of labourlist.org and Psychotherapist with diy-therapy.com
Who better to offer advice on how to blog huh? Am slightly confused as to where the "take orders from Downing Street, call your opponents racists and smear their extended families" bit of the session is though.

I would have through if you were a half decent writer/journalist that was reasonable smart you could work most of this stuff out yourself?

I read blogs like I read newspapers, I skim them with my handy RSS reader and read ones that interest me. I suspect I'm like most people.

interesting that dolly calls bloggers "citizen journalists". Don't recall him extending that respectful definition to you lot!

Somebody was telling me the other day that Kate Garraway has no sense of smell! This perhaps adds to what we all know - that she has no taste either!

I hope that John Prescott videos Draper at the seminar and produces one of his famous Vlog's for us all to enjoy.

Sounds like a description for a Guardian advertised local government non-job. The reason the left struggle to be heard online (or anywhere) is that no bugger can understand what the hell they're talking about.

I can't believe Haymarket could be so crass and stupid!

Oh, hang on... yes I can. Having 'enjoyed' the media facilities at Haymarket-organised exhibitions and events I can believe this of them.

Derek Draper - the man who put the "psycho" into "psychotherapist".

Is Heseltine still the boss of Haymarket? I always enjoyed his sense of humour.

Flat Eric shoulder bags were a must have fashion item. Kate probably had one, and loved it.
A psychotherapist could explain the link between a much loved possession and a lover.
Well, a good one could anyway.

Derek Draper seems to be, as we say, camp as a row of tents. Has he given any response to the persistent rumours in this regard?

PR week - what a joke publication. Enough said when you consider they had Charlie Whelan as a columnist! Seem to have their favourites and generally (strangely) leaning widely to Labour. I can declare an interest - I get it free!

Draper is an idiot, but there are plenty more idiots out there. Just look at the polls. There are still people out there who would support Gordon McTwat. I guess he can rely on them to turn up and pay money for his blogging advice. It won't be much good to them, but fools and their money...
