The figures may be small in this little table but is it not a littlwe worrying that the Ministry of Defence is having so many guns stolen and lost each year? Rough and dirty calculations work out to about two guns a month going walkies from the MoD.
Eh, although I've never really had a problem with honest people owning guns, I have a huge problem with criminals having them. If they're willing to steal them in the first place, chances are they're criminals.
My Brother in Law is serving in Iraq at the moment and says that the Iraqi civilian contractors on his base regularly steal guns and ammo (as well as anything else that isn’t nailed down). Most are recovered as the contractors are searched on entry and exit from the base, but inevitably a few do slip through the net.
It’s got so bad recently that weapons storage protocols have had to change. Previously all the soldiers were required to keep their weapons with them at all times, but when left unattended even briefly (such as when soldiers were in the shower) they kept going walkabout. Now all weapons have to be kept in the armoury and only checked out when going on patrol. This of course reduces their ability to respond quickly in an emergency.

No need to worry - I'm sure that these guns are ending up in the hands of law-abiding, moral and upstanding members of the community.

That includes Iraq and Afghanistan so it's not a huge number really.
Guns or is that rifles or pistols a gun is a large thing on wheels or a shot gun which is of course not on wheels..
I cannot wait to see how weapons the police lose in a year.
