When will Gordon learn to work with the camera?

Watch the way the tone changes as the penny drops that he should probably not be being quite so upbeat when he's talking about HIV and AIDS.

He's still reading the autocue as well, but they just moved it to the side this time.

On a less serious note, I notice that the Downing Street channel says it can let you "[w]atch the most informative, the latest, the most amusing footage from 10 Downing street." They're certainly amusing but for all the wrong reasons.

Like his government, he was obviously on autopilot.

The great problem of the television age, can you appear credible on camera; the great problem for Brown, prepare! it does make you wonder if he had read the speech before, if he had he should have known what expression to wear. When presentation is a cue for substance it shows that the polished New Labour performance is no longer working

There are better examples.

The 27th November press conference has a priceless one. It was shown on Friday's 'Have I Got News For You' and it is absolutely hilarious. It comes towards the end of the conference when he thought he had fielded the last question about Harriet Harman. He hadn't. He was beaming his best camera smile as the questioner opened with: "Prime Minister, one last attempt to get a 'yes/no' answer. Does Ms Harman still have you full support?" Words cannot do justice to the instantaneous transformation to scowling dagger-looks. It had me laughing for a full minute.

It's available here but you'll have to put up with 50 minutes of garbage first. Someone ought to put it up on YouTube. I'd do it myself if I had a clue how

What's with the potential gurn every time he pauses? It's as though he's pushing his tongue behind the bottom lip and dropping the jaw at the same time.

Weird!

As Adam Boulton rightly pointed out whilst interviewing that erstwhile cardboard cutout Purnell this morning everything Labour do is framed, not in terms of benefit and objectives, but in how much money they are throwing at the problem.

Yup. It's the complete inability to 'do telly' that will see this fraud monkey off.

a) They didn't move the autocue to the side, Dizzy - it's his wonky eye;

b) Is that Abrahams in the distance, dressed as a Lord and waving?
