Lib Dems expunge jargon

Brace yourself, this is a post about the Lib Dems which doesn't bash them but says "fair play", "good work" and just generally acknowledges that at least sometimes they can be sane. Lib Dem controlled Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council has recently gone through its website and expunged 1,568 instances of jargon. The cost of the project was a mere £1,000 and now - apparently- none of the following phrases exist.
  • Going forward
  • Blue sky thinking
  • Horizon scanning
  • Thinking outside the box
  • Singing from the same hymn sheet
  • Flag up
  • Joined-up thinking
  • Top-level competencies
  • Information architecture
  • Abbreviations with no reference as to what they stand for
How refreshing! Now I wonder whether other councils - of whatever political colour - might follow their lead?

Update: Someone has pointed out in the comments that they've found one of the phrases on the Stockport website. C'est la vie! I did say "apparently" and I never said "all jargon"! For anyone who may be curious why they did it, it was apparently an iniative by the Council called "Junk the Jargon Week". Obviously no one told them that they had to maintain it going forward [sic].

Well I did say "apparently"

What you fail to mention is that their website is now completely blank! :-)

Most of the words you point out are not jargon, but management buzz speak. Jagon is unnecessary technical language that doesn't immediately make sense, buzz words are perfectly understandable phrases that are silly and meaningless.
