Man fined for flicking cigarette ash out of car window

Yes seriously. It was littering even though he had evidence to the contrary.

Actually, I'm glad this is happening. You've never tried following a car with ash being flicked out of it on a motorbike have you? A faceful of ash is not a nice thing to have while you're trying to not be run down by another idiot who's texting rather than looking at the road.

God, yeah that's disgusting isn't it. After all, we should be allowed to piss out of car windows. Unless of course some geeky IT twat is on fire, less of course the piss were to extinguish the flames.

Why would someone apparently so conscientious about littering flick ash out of his car window? What does he think that behaviour constitutes?

As the person who posted the link to Dizzy, I want to point something out.
These convictions are based on the word of the litter gestapo. No proof is required. No evidence is needed. If he says you did it, then you did it. Pay your fine or go to court. If you go to court you are not allowed to give evidence. Your fine is increased. There is no appeal.

What price democracy? Whatever happened to the concept of innocent until proven guilty? Or has that been Euro-ised as well?

We now live in a land where everything is illegal. The law will make criminals of us all

THere are a number of points here to raise. Fristly, in the eyes of the law, flicking a cigarette of it;s ash is not considered littering. Secondly, ash disipates to dust.

It is absolutely essential to the ruling clique that the British are made to fear their masters. Alas, there will be more of it!

This is not a problem, it is part of the solution.

Trouble is, Dave, I rather think the people complaining are ok with that. They believe it'll always be someone else, not them, who falls foul of these kinds of acts.

Thay'll learn. But it'll be too late by then.

Dizzy, is this some kind of techie's joke? I clicked on the link and it started opening up dozens of Explorer windows. Had to turn the damned computer off to stop it.

This bloke, if what he says is true, had a manifestly unfair trial and has cast-iron grounds for appeal. It's pretty disgraceful, but I'd only be more widely concerned if he tried and failed to overturn the fine.
