Praise for the Government (SpAds)

A rare moment where I get to praise the Government for not evacuating urine up the proverbial wall on expenses. Apparently since the Department of Transport's inception in 2003 the amount "claimed in reimbursable expenses by special advisers" comes to the grand total of £371.23.

Having said this, the department did manage to spend £566,767.88 on subscriptions to magazine, newspaper and "other publications". Nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more, a nudge is as good as a wink to a blind man!?

Dont you find that a bit worrying? Over the last six years the special advisors at the Department of Transport have claimed less than £1 a week on expenses? Do they never use public transport?

Maybe they all have free passes - perhaps old enough to have the new ENCTS national bus passes and don't come in until after 9.30 am.
