The dangers of auto-replace

Quite possibly the funniest thing ever. It appears the American Family Association (who don't be liking those gayers) have been doing some auto-replacing on their AP feed for their OneNewsNow site. One such auto-replace is to change the word "gay" to "homosexual" which is not very effective if you're an athlete called Tyson Gay.

Hat Tip: Croydonian for sending me the link.

Wonderful!

I wonder if they're equally squeamish about predictive texting - which can also cause problems if you don't check it carefully.

They must have a very "interesting" license from AP to edit the stories in this manner, as the standard contract from AP doesn't allow any editing whatsoever.

Hmmmm, wonder what Julie Andrews would make of it:

I feel pretty
I feel pretty
So pretty and homosexual

Doesn't quite scan does it?

There was the occasion when the Guardian reported the election victory of 'Anita Turnoutack' (Anita Pollack).

The classic in online content filters is finding a North Lincolnshire town renamed to "S****horpe". Assuming they let you post it at all!

As for predictive text errors: my favourite is what T9 gives you instead of "Smirnoff"...

Or, from South Pacific:

Younger than springtime am I. Homosexualer than laughter am I etc..

We can have lots of fun with this one!

Maybe Mr Homosexual should sue.
