Thought for the Day

When will someone, anyone, individual or state, take the initiative and assasinate Robert Mugabe? Just thinking out loud is all. Controversial yes, and no doubt all the lefties that moan about what a tyrant he is would instantly talk about shameful imperialism and suddenly become apologists for him much as they have done with Saddam Hussein and the plight of Iraqis under his regime.

Still, I imagine for the vast majority of ordinary people out there, they probably wouldn't give a crap if someone took out the moustached loony. At least it would get the news off our screens about what an utter bastard he is. Having said this, has anybody noticed how his top military man looks just like Idi Amin? I wonder if we trained him too?

Update: Glad to see someone that fails to consistently denounce dictators bit. Always adds to the amusement when they bite and ignore the obvious sarcasm.

What an absolutely moronic idea.

Perhaps on his way back from Rome, the Italian ATC could "mistakenly" redirect his flight path over Israel. If he disappeared off the radar I can'think anyone would be bothered to go and look for his plane somewhere out in the Negev.

All NGO and Aid Organisation field operations have been suspended in Zimbabwe. He is effectively starving his people into submission.

Someone, give me a plane ticket to Rome and a .303 and I'll shoot the fucker myself.

Why can't we fly a cruise missile into his bedroom one night?

Sounds like the military are starting to get the upper hand over Mugabe, if you believe today's papers.

Can any right wing nutcase comment on this blog, or do you have to be blood thirsty as well?

It never ceases to amaze me that after all this time people still can't spot sarcasm in my posts. Jesus wept.

The only reason assassination isn't seen as a tool of choice is that Western leaders are concerned about the precedent that it sets - in other words political and personal cowardice. PS - I'm disappointed there wasn't a proper scrap in Italy.

I do not think assassination is a good idea, it is far too messy. I should like to see Mugabe arrested at Rome airport and removed to the International Court of Justice at the Hague on charges of crimes against humanity, and a whole raft of other crimes. Humilation is the best response. But after he has gone to the Hauge, what of poor Zimbabwe?

All to many leaders who are assasinated then become 'hero martyrs' - and their second in commands carrty on as before.

I'd rather you started a discussion about how many people have to die in a country before the UN - actually just all five of the UK, the US, Russia, China and France - will sanction military intervention. What will it take to start any or all of Operation Zimbabwean Freedom, Operation North Korean Freedom, or Operation Sudanese Freedom?
