Purnell SpAd fakes it... is a pattern emerging?

It appears that James Purnell, the Work and Pensions Secretary of photoshop faking it fame has found himself embroiled in another faking it scandal in his constituency. This time it appears one of his local SpAd's, Mike Doherty, has been writing to the local press using a fake address in order to praise someone who is alleged to also work for Purnell, whilst simultaneously slating a local Tory councillor.

When the SpAd was confronted by the local press he claimed that he wrote the letter in his "own time" but conceded it was the "wrong thing to do". Wrong thing indeed, writing a politically motivated letter whilst failing to declare the interest about your boss and giving a fake address doesn't really add to Team Purnell's credibility now does it?

SpAd means Special Advisor, and is a specific role with a specific contract, involving being employed by a government department..

The person involved is NOT a Special Advisor, and this story appears to be an attempt just to smear the name of SpAds rather than report an actual bout of wrong doing - the person is in fact more akin to a member of Derek Conway's family, paid for by Parliament.
