Times by Matthew Parris, he notes that whilst recording a programme for Radio 4 before the conference season he was told by a former Cabinet political advisor that in Commons briefing packs for question there is always, at the back, a section titled "I’LL TAKE NO LECTURES . . ."
It is "an 'in emergency, break glass', last-ditch line of defence." What were the first words uttered by Brown in response to Cameron's first question in the Commons yesterday? If you have to reach for the little hammer and break the glass from the outset you know you've got a problem.
