Is the BBC reporting the Alan Johnston kidnap honestly?

There's an interesting take over on Danny Finkelstein's blog about the kidnapped BBC journalist Alan Johnston. His point is essentially that the BBC's reporting of the situation appears to be ignoring the fundamental power play aspect within the Palestinian factions during its reporting of the issue. Read it in full here.

I have a source who's out there and he told me that it is, as Finkelstein says, factional infighting. Also that to some extent, it's a criminal matter as much as a political powerplay.

The BBC line on widespread support for Johnson is apparently true, however. That wouldn't cut much ice here with, say, the Mafia and it's not cutting much ice there with what is effectively a crime family.
