Blair called Brown "psychologically flawed" not Campbell says former Downing Street spin doctor

In an interview with 18 Doughty Street TV's Iain Dale, the former Downing Street spin doctor, and author of the Spin Doctor's Diary, Lance Price, has said that far from it being Alastair Campbell that called Gordon Brown "psychologically flawed" it was actually the Prime Minister himself, Tony Blair.

When asked about why Alastair Campbell spoke of Brown in such terms, Price said to Dale that he wasn't sure it was Campbell. When pushed he went to say,
Well no, I don’t know, I don’t know for a fact it was Alastair Campbell. I’ll tell you what somebody…somebody very close to the Chancellor who was having this discussion, many people had this discussion obviously, said to me; “By the way everyone says it was Alastair, it wasn’t Alastair”. He said it was Tony Blair. It was Tony Blair who said it. It was completely unacceptable for the news to be out there that this was what the Prime Minister said about the Chancellor so therefore Alastair took the rap and Alastair’s been the lightning conductor ever since.

Blair is being most disloyal to his successor. On the other hand Brown's campaign for the leadership has had more hiccups than West Ham's season. I've decided to lend them a hand and join the Tories 4 Gordon campaign. First step in the strategy is to pulverise Labour in the May local elections. I hope the Brownites will swing behind me to help achieve their goal.

At the risk of overusing the term 'bleedin' obvious', this applies to Blair's assessment of Brown.

Also, Praguetory's take above is right - Blair is showing his true colours in this. Seriously, it seems to me he is half a man.

Who is Blair's preferred successor?

Do you think it's the sort of comment Cherie Blair might have said first to hubby over their cereal in the morning?

Who was it that first called Brown "emotionally autistic"?

Cameron is Blair's preferred successor. The thing that must piss Brown off the most is the way that Yo Blair is generally such a gamma male amongst bigshots, but treats Brown like Baldrick.

ahaha ANYBODY who stands for election to the House of Commons is psychologically flawed. Can you imagine yourself doing such a thing? No, because you're a normal human being. Anybody who thinks 'I know what's best for everybody and I should be helping to run their lives' is actually a breed of nutjob. People should stop encouraging them by voting for them.
