Nigel Farage new leader of UKIP

BBC News

What a horrible job
14:45 - I see UKIPHome and UKIP don't know yet though.

16:12 - The press release is up on UKIP now. The hugely successful mass membership party had a total of 7,574 votes cast. Sadly 169 managed to spoil their ballots, I imagine there will be complaints about hanging chads. *rimshot*

Leading UKIP means little. The party is controlled by a small cabal, and leaders are only nominal figureheads. Expect nil change, and little progress - only Suchorzewski would have tried to get things going in UKIP. Not even Kilroy Silk was allowed to get his hands on controlling the party even after 6Xing their support.

4.15 and no news on UKIP yet. Mind you, they have their poundstretcher badge for sale at £1.10, but comment "The famous pound £ lapel badge. Pay a pound to 'Save the Pound'". Sigh....

Looking at the % turnout you can estimate they have just 16,500 members left - a drop from 29,000 to 16,500 in 2 years!
