David Gold selected for Eltham

As was mentioned last night by Iain Dale (and later LBS), David Gold was chosen to be the PPC for Eltham in the first Open Primary to be held in London.

The format was pretty straight forward. The shortlist of candidates were asked to canvass a few streets in the constituency and then asked to give a 5 minute presenattion on their findings. They were then interviewed for 15 minutes by Michael Portillo, and then faced questions from the floor for another 10 minutes.

In my view, David Gold was undoubtedly the best performer of all of them, hopefully I will get out and do some work with him in the time between now and the next election. For anyone wondering, there was one Liberal Democrat councillor there (who could have voted but chose not to), I didn't see any obvious Labour people though.
