Postcards to the Queen?

The left wing comedian Mark Thomas, who can occasionally make a funny wisecrack - but for the most part is your typical campaigning leftie of the kind Nick Cohen attacked in "What's Left" - has started a campaign urging his fan and followers to send a message to the Queen with the postcard below.

I'm not really sure what to say. Can you imagine the reaction if someone on the Right started a similar campaign with say, Tony Benn?

I also have a distinct impression that a large number of those sending these things in won't even have been born in the 1970s. Ho hum. All makes extra money for the Post Office, at any rate.

I think I've passed more humourous stools.

Mr Thomas is a twat.

Is this yet another example of a so-called comedian/activist being 'edgey'? Christ on a bike. Why can't he just deliver a few leaflets for his chosen local party association like everyone else?

It's like Scargill never did anything.

I think it shows his mentality that he shows total disrespect to the Queen as well as being thoroughly venomous towards Lady Thatcher. Someone also should point out to this left wing cretin that the Queen is the legal head of state, not the self declared head of state. There are a mountain of statutes that attest this fact.

Just imagine if people talked in similar fashion of Michael Foot's funeral or mocked his late wife.

That is truly appalling.

Sick fucker.

He's a jerk.

He must be very short of new and original material. As for lefties of the past, the Mick MaGahey I recall would have disassociated himself from this kind of thing, and he would not have been the only one.

He's got a more useful campaign here:

Mark Thomas is a fine campaigner it's just a shame that some of his campaigns are so misdirected.

...And this man is still wandering about amongst us you say. He looks like a prime candidate for being sectioned under the mental health act, after they have got Gordon put away.
He is as funny as haemmerhoids.

Does he realise that the syntax of his first sentence means that HE is claiming to be the Queen?
('I' being the subject of the sentence, 'As the self-declared head of state' must therefore refer forward to it).
Idiot.

A very sick person is Mr. Thomas.

You really should look up the definition of comedian. Mark Thomas is just another foul-mouthed lout who believes he is funny whilst he really only crude. His audience normally giggles out of sheer embarrassment.

He is not alone in that special zone.

What a hideous idea, but, sadly, something to expected from Mark Thomas. not a nice person.

These are very sick people, that does this sort of thing. It should be treated with the contempt it deserves

We on the right always respect those on the Left. Clement Atlee was the Left's equivalent of Margaret Thatcher in his radicalism and country changing manifesto. There was opposition to him, but it was always dignified and respectful. So why does the Left feel it has a free rein to attack Britain's greatest peace time PM in history?

And where were your complaints when Dale used the death of Jack Jones to make an equally offensive attack? A period of silence is the best way to behave when someone you disagree with dies - a bit like Thomas's comedy really.

BTW talking of sense of humour failures - I just had a comment censored by Dorries because I praised her for saying that MPs should not make capital gains on properties funded with state funded mortgages - but reminded her not to mention that to Dave.

dizzy said...

Errr I don't think I actually made a complaint did I? As for 'Jack Jones' and Iain Dale I don't actually know what you're talking about.

It's simply a case of arrested development.

Like the former flower children still wafting around in cheesecloth and loon pants or the 75-year-old Brylcreemed rocker, Mark Thomas imbibed the Thatcher=BAD mantra of the left back in the eighties and has been regurgitating it ever since.

That's why he is an 'alternative' comedian. Means he isn't funny. The thing about lefty twats like him is of course they have no manners, decorum or actual style. They think trying to shock people or offend them is hilarious. Instead it's pathetic. Especially so when it concerns the greatest primeminister this country has had post WWII.

Tory Teacake said...

What a twat! He can't even write the thing properly so that it a) makes sense and b) is factually accurate.
Addressing the Queen correctly, i.e. NOT Elizabeth Windsor, would be a leap forward. Whilst we're on that topic, I also believe that it is Baroness Thatcher to the likes of him...

Anonymous said...

Never heard of him, but I bet that either he is Scottish, or his parents are. Probably same background as Brown, with religion playing a large part.
They're a nasty bunch, these zealots.

Anonymous said...

Mark Twat, or whatever his name is, wants a good slap.

logdon said...

Notice how they attack the easy prey? Christianity for instance. Never Islam which for the left should be the subject du jour with it's intolerance towards women, gays and non believers. But no that's not how it goes in the minds of these hypocrites. They obey the rules of the new establishment of pc with a crawling cap dofffing deference. And that's edgy?

WTF has Huddersfield got to do with it? My home town (I am partial to a bit of sheep shagging not that we need to mention it). How very odd. Have we just walked thru a time tunnel or something - million dead Iraquis mean nothing - yeah, the unions couldn't afford their piss ups - boo fucking hoo.

My great grandad established the engineering union in 'uddersthwaite and it was their insistence on this 'single status' shit (look it up if you're bored - people getting fucking screwed) that has nicely fucked up everyone else. Ha ha ha oh, hmm, uurrgghh.

Ch4 & the BBC - it's the unique way they fleece you that allows for their quality output etc etc.

I have actually been into the oppositions den where I live....ie The Labour Party Club.

On the bar is an advertisement for a party in Trafalgar Square the Saturday after "Maggie Thatcher dies."

This is the HQ of the local Labour Party and they don't seem to think anything wrong in it.

Its always annoyed me that Mark Thomas is described as a comedian. Standing up in front of an audience addressing them with a microphone no more makes you funny than sticking your hand up a cow's arse makes you a vet.

Tory Teacake wrote: "Addressing the Queen correctly, i.e. NOT Elizabeth Windsor, would be a leap forward"

Quite right. He should, of course, have used her proper name: Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.

from wickapedia 'Mark Thomas was born in South London. His mother was a midwife and his father a self employed builder (and ex lay preacher).[1] Thomas was educated at Macaulay Church of England Primary School, Victoria Rise, Clapham until 1974, where his party trick was to recite off heart the first verses of the four gospels, and then won a scholarship to Christ's Hospital School, where he attained O-levels and A-levels. He went on to be awarded a degree in Theatre Arts at Bretton Hall College, just south of Wakefield.'

still makes him a berk !

What Mark Thomas and other lefties just cannot explain is why, if Margaret Thatcher was just one tenth as evil, incompetent, and vicious as they claim, did she win three general elections? It took the votes of approximately 1 million people from Labours' natural constituency (trade unionists, the low paid, and the retired) to keep her in office from 1979 to 1990. Surely even plonkers such as Kinnoch and Foot would have been preferable to the pantomome villan that the left have invented over the years?

In the past I have been a big fan of Mark Thomas, and though I may not agree with his politics, he has done some good work in the field of investigative journalism. Celebrating someone's death, though, is sick and genuinely disgusts me.

I think Benn, Blair and Brown have all done immense harm to this country, but I certainly wouldn't reach for the champagne if they died.

Shame on you, Mark Thomas.

Wallenstein said...

Hurrah... more knee-jerking from tighty-righties.

Can any of you actually read?? The campaign is in the light of a drive to give Thatcher a state funeral when she pegs it.

Whether she was a good or bad PM, she's not done anything to warrant a state funeral. I presume the queen has to grant a state funeral? So the campaign is pointing out that a state funeral would be subject to politcal demonstration. This is not necessarily about a private funeral when she goes. I'm sure many people will have a party when she dies, but they won't be picketing her (private) funeral, just if it's a state funeral.

Yes it's nasty and silly but I agree with the point that Mrs T should not have a state funeral. Otherwise Blair would surely have an equal claim, and then it devalues the whole thing.

I hope she dies soon. The hideous witch.

This recession is third during my working lifetime that has been caused by inept Labour politicians.

The childish morans who are conned by left wing Labour propaganda are falling into the same trap set for the German people by Hitler in the 1930's and 1940's

Grow-up and set your pathetic mind to making this country a better place for everyone.

I look forward to celebrating the death of mark thomas as someone that pig ignorant cant have long to live before he drowns in his own smart arrse bile.
Mrs T deserves a state funeral when she sadly passes away given she cleared up the god awful labour mess the last time (3 day weeks, the english disease, union blackmail, rampant inflation, power cuts etc). Just hoping the boy dave is up to clearing up their mess this time.

This is what I like about Britain: people can express their personal contempt for a divisive figure. Maggie was no saint and people either love or hate her. So what? At least we aren't like the USA where the moment Reagan died everyone gave the most sickening tributes (even though everyone knew he was the "puppet-actor" president).

Anonymous said...

Shit, Reagans dead!

Little Black Sambo said...

"Otherwise Blair would surely have an equal claim."
On what, I wonder would his equal claim be based. Margaret Thatcher was one of the greatest Prime Ministers this country has ever had, Tony Blair one of the worst.

Anonymous said...

I shall not be taking Mr Thomas up on his offer. However, I have taken up samba lessons in the event of Tony Blair's or Gordon Brown's untimely demise.

Mark M said...

@tory boys never grow up

But Dale didn't gloat over the fact that Jack Jones had died. He expressed sympathy to his family but said that his memories of Jones would always be of the damage he did to the country. Basically he didn't go for the 'anyone who dies is a saint' mentality we have.

The big difference is that Dale didn't celebrate Jones' passing, whereas Lefties seem to think, disgracefully, that Thatcher's passing will be worthy of a great celebration.

laura Nicol said...

Why do you all assume that to think left of centre means you support labour, labour is no longer a left wing party they have completely betrayed the working people that they are supposed to represent. I am also wondering how many of you have actually been to one of Marks shows. As for the milk snatcher cant wait for her to kick the bucket - not that that is what the postcard campaign is about, its purely about the fact that she dont deserve a state funeral.

laura Nicol said...

I am wondering where the assumption comes from that "lefties" support New Labour? They have betrayed the people they were supposed to be representing. They arent a left wing party anymore. I would never support them, and yes when Blair kicks the bucket it will be a fine day. The postcards about the milk snatcher are purely about her not deserving a state funeral, it has nothing to do with celebraring her death though I imagine I personally will be rather pleased on that day.

Mark M

And he chose to bring out those memories on Jack Jones death - I will not be bringing out my memories of Mrs Thatcher on her death or cloak them in sympathy for her relatives - I will allow my silence to register my contempt.
