This morning I am absolutely flabbergasted by the news that Tory MP, James Gray, has been claiming for his Remembrance Day wreaths from the taxpayer. Iain Dale has called for the whip to be withdrawn from him, and also noted he is a "class one copper bottomed shit".
Iain is far too kind I think. In a rare moment this blogs posts are going to move down the Devils Kitchen route. He's not a class one copper bottomed shit at all, he's a class one copper bottomed cunt. He shouldn't just have the whip removed either, he should apologise and step down as soon as possible.
To have his claims rejected and then complain that he had got away with such claims in the past takes the piss even more. There is little ore irritating than the "but we've always done this" argument that assumes that because something was previously done it somehow makes it right.
If ever there was a moment for a dividing line between Brown and Cameron it is now. Cameron can act against this bastard and tell him to bugger off. If he doesn't act then I fear it may be because he knows that his time in the Telegraph spotlight is coming.

Obviously no one can argue with what Gray has done. Where I disagree is that Brown and Cameron should create dividing lines over this issue. It is not a party political matter.
What should happen is the party leaders should get together and jointly resolve the expenses racket. It is what should have happened months ago.
Shouldn't the Marathon Man get an entry in the Guinness Book of Records for taking the longest time to complete a marathon?
He shouldn't just have *the* whip removed, he should have *a* whip shoved up his arse.
He's been re-selected, I understand. Perhaps his constituency assocn. will want to re-think that, pondering the election night TV musings about what sort of people his constituents must be.
I find this criticism of Gray a bit curious - of all the things claimed so far on expenses, surely this is the one thing that is clearly arising purely from his role as an MP. Perhaps if those criticising him place remeberance day wreaths at their own expense, they would have a case, but I suspect they don't.
How many people here pay for a wreath on Remembrance Day? Does anyone seriously believe that HMQ pays for HER wreath out of her own income?
Why the fuss about this? It's about 20k less bad than claiming for dry rot in a home a hundred miles away from your constituency or Parliament, or any of the major frauds perpetrated by other MPs.
Gray is a totally disgrace, and if the Tories have any sense, they should hang this man out to dry.
Hear hear. Well said that man.
Laying a wreath is part of the job - done on behalf of his constituents. Seems reasonable they should buy it! Can't see he got any benefit out of it Very different from those who bought personal items at public expense
James Gray is an MP who does a great deal of good work for service men and women who find themselves disabled as a result of their service. I have personnal experience of the time and effort he gives helping such individuals and commend and thank him for doing so. I feel that claiming expenses for wreaths laid on behalf of his constituents is completely acceptable and am shocked that some people do not see this as an acceptable claim when there are other seemingly outrageous claims to comment on.
