Is Brown going to purge is enemies?

Sky News is obviously running with the Speaker story, but they're also running with the news that Brown has met with the NEC and all Labour MPs that are found to have broken the rules will not be standing at the next election.

Who wants to bet that such an internal rule will be used by Brown to get rid of his enemies whilst his allies get off on some technicality? Stalin purged with violence, I can't help thinking that Brown will try to use expenses as a means to purge his own ranks of rivals.

I've just seen the headlines on Sky and exactly the same thing crossed my mind. They all claim not to have broken the rules, so it shouldn't be too hard to protect all but the most egregious offenders and come down like a ton of bricks on his enemies.

At least, that's what he'll be thinking. It won't do them a blind bit of good come the election. Until recently, I'd have said it would take dynamite to remove some of these MPs, but if Martin's in trouble in Springburn (and I think he is), anything could happen.

Have they read the fine print yet?,until that's done all we will see is pigs flying around the HOC.

He keeps talking about those "who broke the rules, but we all know that their claims were made "within the rules".

Surely, none of the MPs broke the rules as they drafted them wide enough to allow them to trough to their hearts content.

If, though, Brown decides to say that some claims are not within the spirit or intent of the rules then there probably will be a bloodletting.

Gordon Brown is the only decider of what is right and what is wrong, all hail the great Clunking Fist.

Well if Brown is going to save his friends and ditch his enemies, it will leave labour in opposition for even longer than last time. Maybe the libdems really will become the second party.

Within the Rules means that any expense claim already met means it is within the rules.

Typical Brown. Words come easy.

Cameron needs to cull via deselection. Say 20 or so. Blood in gutter for all to see. Come election voters will compensate him.
