What a waste of public money

The image on the right is from Facebook (friend suggestion redacted) which shows an advert for the Policing PLedge which links here.

The Policing Pledge can also be known as the statement of the bleeding obvious about what we expect the Police to do anyway.

The question is why waste public funds on advertising on Facebook in order to tell us that the Police now pledge to catch criminals? What were they pledging to do before exactly?

to be fair, Facebook advertising can be extremely cheap - pennies a day.

Easy peasy, all those who click on are put on the files. Then if anyone posts anything critical of the government, they know where you live. Didn't your grannie tell you?

Dizzy why would this surprise you? Wasting publiuc money has been this governments definition of investment. What about this a security review because a minister leaves his bag on a train. or the half million quid wasted trying to lock up Mr Green and Mr Galley for causing red faces in the home office.

Isn't this just another example of those "mission statements" that every enterprise had to have a few years ago? I could never understand the point of them either -- who was supposed to be informed or instructed by being told that a university "pursues excellence in teaching and research" or that a chain of shops "aims to offer the public the best goods at the best prices"? The strange thing was that there must have been people who saw some merit in them, a subculture of idiots that had somehow acquired the authority to write and publicise such nonsense.
