Tory MP for Ilford North, Lee Scott has tabled a motion that "calls on the Government urgently to ensure that all pedicabs are removed from the streets before the UK experiences a tragic incident like the one in Seattle."
On this sort of logic shouldn't he be calling for cars to be banned too? I quite like getting in a pedicab when I need to get to the train station in London. It's relaxing and fun, and I take the risk, just like if I get in a taxi, that their maybe an accident.
Whatever happened to personal responsibility from Tories? What's more, given Lee Scott is enthusiastic for laws to combat climate change shouldn't he be in favour of "carbon-free" transport solutions?

Ban pedicabs - they're dangerous and there could be an accident.
Ban cars - they're dangerous and there could be an accident.
Ban aircraft - they're dangerous and there could be an accident.
Ban sports - there could be an accident and people might get hurt.
Ban smoking - it's bad for you and everyone around.
Ban eating - some of it is bad for you.
Ban drinking - too much is bad for you.
Ban politicians - they are bad for everybody.
Lots (and lots) of Black Cab drivers live in Ilford North.
It's just pandering/representing constituents.
Bad Tory.... bad Tory, tut tut! You should know better.
Cyclists of all types are a pain in the ass and should be made to display a license plate and have insurance.
The money should be used to implement proper bike lanes, not the sad little erratic stips that are dotted around now.
You just know that a pedicab got in his way that morning. I'm the same, everytime a politician annoys me I blog about them!
I read it as pedicures to start with....
Living in the grim North I had no idea such things existed. Looks something you may see in India.
This is what happens when a political party starts shedding principles in the ruthless pursuit of power. Cameron's Tories are now riddled by contradiction and inconsistency. Dave wouldn't recognise a principle if it came up and slapped his fat ruddy Bullingdon face.
Blair, Mandy et al did exactly the same when they created New Labour, leading to the soulless, valueless cadaver of a party we see today.
I am losing the will to live again.
I've done a bit of digging, and it appears these pedicabs are not insured and can be pretty dodgy.
Also, can't find evidence that Scott is a Greenmaniac.
if you click the link on his name it will take you to Theyworkforyou.com Judith. They have his positions based on his voting record and it comes from there.
Who the fuck is Lee Scott?
Who on earth briefs these people?
Dizzy, you've gone ominously quiet.
What mischief are you that little monkey Tim up to?
Ban pedicabs.... they are only used by pediphiles.
How do you calculate that this is carbon free transport? Surely the poor bugger doing the cycling has to eat, be clothed, have a house or somewhere to stay. Arguably, it's the least carbon efficient mode of transport available in London!
I deliberately put the phrase carbon-free in quotes to make your point without saying it.
There are at least several good, responsible pedicab companies with good 'drivers' (what is the word?) and well-maintained pedicabs. Then there are a bunch of others. Recently one was seen suddenly doing a U turn right in front of a bus, which had to swerve and brake, narrowly avoiding hitting a car. Another pedicab had a wheel that was loose - he got off, kicked into place, got back on and pedaled away with his customers. A man standing on Oxford Street near Marble Arch counted 62 pedicabs passing in 20 minutes, amidst all the heavy traffic. I'd rather have pedicabs than the pollution-belching buses, but there needs to be licensing, 'driving' training, and a ban on them turning their ghetto-blasters up to full volume at 3am (waking up all residents nearby).
