Christmas is a time for war!

I've been away from news entirely for the last four days and have just picked up a paper. So, why is it, every Christmas, without fail, Palestinians start killing each other? Should anyone be confused by the usage of "Palestinians" I do so in the same context as "Britons" can be used to denote someone from the geographical region of the British Isles.

I do this for two reasons. Firstly to make the point that "Palestine" is not historically a "state" and has only ever been a name for a region of land that has, over the years, had many borders within it, such as Syria, Egypt, Jordan, and obviously Israel. The second reason is because I just know some rabid Jew-hating nutter will bite.

I shan't call them anti-semitic mind, because strictly speaking the Arab are Semites too, so clearly they're not anti-semitic, they just hate some Semites but not all. OH. if anyone was looking for an opinion on what happening down there then its in the clever and subtle subtext of this post.

Well, I can't disagree with you - because that would make me a rabid Jew-hating nutter. Oh dear.

Not at all, you can disagree with me without being a rabid jew-hating nutter.

Shouldn't Tony Blair be there sorting it out?

Because it is the one time of the year when they can guarantee a slice of the media blitz, despite the generally larger death tolls elsewhere in this imperfect world? When, despite the deprivation in the Palestinian Authority areas, there are plenty of foreign (okay, and white and Christian) tourists visiting?

Or is it because both sides are wholly wedded to fundamentally conflicting political ideologies, have access to heavy weapons, and no (or minimal) regard for human rights (in the wider context, not specifically the UDHR)?

Or did Santa just bring a (religiously divided) mix of Hellfire and Qassam to these nice boys?

I just love it when it kicks off over Christams - as it has many times before. I think its to create maximum impact as there is little other news.

They are always kicking off. It's not just Christmas

Nothing wrong with fighting back, there is something wrong with over-reacting. Would it have been correct for the RAF to level Belfast during the troubles? By the Israeli's standards, it seems so.

With Darwen, so will only add: read the Bible, where thousands of years of conflict are chronicled.
