As Mark Wallace from the TPA writes on the Coffee House blog,
Far from being the pork-barrel big spenders that the Government imagined, the public are clearly tired of glitzy, big ticket projects. People would rather have money in their pockets now to help keep their heads above water than yet more large public projects, with all the waste, delays and mismanagement they inevitably entail.Absolutely on the money I'd say.

"Public against Brown's spending splurge"
Too right!
Who in their right mind would get themself into finantial trouble & then think borrowing is the way to get yourself out of it! Of course our mental unelected prime minister!
Our grandparents had the right idea about money & felt shame if they owed it, McBrown has no shame!
I also wonder what the public feel about the MILLIONS McBrown borrows to give away to countries over seas when we need EVERY penny over here?
Chancellor Brown and Co. have already begun stepping back from the 'spending our way out of recession' type remarks.
Funny thing is, I don't actually believe them. Right now it's a case of 'don't scare the horses'. There's a financial turd tsunami coming and this Labour lot are not the sort to cut back our expenditure.
Damn right!
I've been banging this drum for months now (but where is the Tory response to this crisis?)
See Osborne's City speech today, curly15.
