Is it going to be Caroline Flint?

Ben Brogan over at the Mail says the rumour mill is that Caroline Flint is going break cover and be a stalking horse Cabinet resignation. I still don't think Brown will go anyway. The only way I can see him agreeing to stand down is if he's defeated by a confidence vote in the Commons.

Perhaps not even then. When has constitutional propriety bothered this lot?

Ms Flint messed up eco towns so might be fired anyway

He won't go and few will openly push. It's a suicide post now. Whomever took the job from GB may get to be PM for 2 years but that'll be it.

A chance to reduce the coming defeat a little possibly but not avoid it. After that it'll be so long before Lab get back that it'll be someone new if the party stays in one piece.

In which case it is your duty to revisit the tale about her UEA nickname....

Wadyamean: "agreeing to stand down is if he's defeated by a confidence vote in the Commons."

He has no choice in that situation.

Jesus, talk about being pedantic. That was my point. He won't agree to go unless he really has no choice.

Erm....unless I've missed something, Ms Flint is not a member of the Cabinet and is a Minister of State in DCLG working under Hazel Blears who is.
