Has JK Rowling been fed some Brownies?

The other day, with much trumpet and fanfare, JK Rowling donated a million pounds to the Labour Party. When she did this she said,
"The Labour government has reversed the long-term trend in child poverty, and is one of the leading EU countries in combating child poverty."
Presumably she got this information from Brown, because its a load of bollocks, as I imagine she would not want to knowingly lie.

After all, June 2008, the End Child Poverty said "End Child Poverty disappointed as child poverty figures rise". In March 2007 they said Disastrous rise in child poverty shows Government failing to meet their targets". Meanwhile Community Care in March this year noted that "the UK still has a higher proportion than any other EU country".

Has someone been telling JK Rowling Brownies?

Why would she get any special treatment?

Master Holborn has quite a different take on the story; its a downpayment to some even bigger reddies. Yay!

I assume you meant to say: "...information from Brown because it is a load of bollocks AS I imagine she would NOT want to knowingly lie."

Pedantly yours.

But then again, perhaps JKR does knowingly lie?

So there is more child poverty in the UK than in Romania or Bulgaria? This just demonstrates how ludicrous these so-called 'statistics' are.

I wonder what JKR's reaction will be when she realises all the snuggling up by the Browns was political manipulation designed to be cashed-in at this moment.

Spin doctors and servicing the party debt, £1M (which she probably won't miss); but realising how cynically she's been used - priceless.

She writes wildly implausible fantasy novels with lots of bad plots and sub-plots and non-plots Dizzy - the Labour narrative is just an extension.

From what I have heard, JK is good friends of the Browns, but the money will not go to pay off the party's debt, but put towards the party conference bill.

I am planning a conference(day trip) at the seaside next year, so any donations welcome
