Just thought I would take a moment to plug something that I will be doing at the end of the month at the Tory Conference in Birmingham. Sadly, due to other commitments, I will not actually be attending the main conference, however I will be attending a new feature which is a mini-conference outside the secure area called the Freedom Zone.
The Freedom Zone is the brainchild of the Freedom Assoication, inconjunction with Forest and The Free Society and is being hosted in Auston Court, a state-of-the-art 150 seater theatre. They're going to have free wifi and blogging facilities which is handy.
There are all sorts of interesting things going on during the two days incluing discussions with David Davis, a discussion on the TV license etc. Additionally, I have been invited by Simon Clark of Forest to be on a panel on Monay 29th on the subject of "Freedom and the Internet". The discussion will be chaired by Iain Dale and the others on it are Nadine Dorries and the Devil's own Kitchen, Chris Mounsey.
Hopefully it should be a good discussion especially as the mini-conference is open to all, not just people with passes. In fact, if we're really lucky, we might even get some of the online fascist/authoritarian/mental bloggers turning up and heckling. After all, the chair and Nadine are hate figures for quite a few of them (and I've upset one or two). For more details on the timetable for the events you can download them in pdf here.

Devil's Kitchen and Nadine Dorries on the same bench?
Ian Dale is going to have his work cut out keeping them apart. The fur will be flying so I hope Ian has a cople of buckets of cold water at hand.
See you there....
Chris is Eton educated and tremendously polite in person. I on the other hand swear like a trooper
Hopefully I can make it, although I have a work meeting in the morning.
are you expecting Tim Montgomerie then?
Great - Nadine can talk about accuracy in blogging and why it's important.
And that has to do with freedoma nd the internet how?
Freedom to be irresponsible with the facts, I guess.
I sense a loony abortion debate coming.
Blogging is a game, we make the rules.
I already had the Freedom & The Internet session pencilled in. I didn't realise Dizzy would be on the bill.
This is all terribly exciting for centre-right geekoids like me. I can't wait!
Am I going to go totally sad and take an autograph book? Yes I think I am! To hell with it! I come out, I'm a Libertarian Conservative geekmeister and I'm proud!
The loony abortion debate will be between her and Devil's Kitchen, surely?
Good to hear. There's a long way to go to catch up with The States but new media citizen journalists (oh OK, bloggers) are starting to have some impact here.
I'm a Libertarian Conservative geekmeister and I'm proud!
Libertarian?
So, why the fuck are you reading Dizzy?
*reaches for dictionary*
