Don't you bloody dare Burnham

You wouldn't do that would you Andy?
The government has offered to broker talks between Liverpool FC and Everton FC about building a shared stadium. Sport secretary Andy Burnham MP, a lifelong Evertonian, made the pledge to mediate discussions while visiting young footballers in the city yesterday.

"Obviously the situation has changed for both clubs, but it is for them to decide what represents the best way forward. Whatever they decide, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport would be available to help facilitate discussions and help the clubs explore the various routes. Obviously it is a continually moving situation and it is not right for me to express my preference either way."
I sincerely hope that when he doesn't want to express his preference he means "over my dead body".

The Council has already been down this route and were told where to go!

Is it really that awful for a minister to just say, "actually, I don't think the fans would like it so I'll fuck off"?

You could always share with Tranmere Rover- just think of the advantages - economic efficiency, no colour clash, no inferiority complex, nice trips to Cheshire every other weekend.

That we have got to the state where a Minister of the Crown involves himself with kicking a ball around amazes me but does not surprise me.... hasn't he got more important things to do? The economy all sorted, immigration sorted etc etc ?

Isn't there a wider question here about Burnham's intervention? I mean, would he go out of his way to make such an offer if it involved a club with which he has more than a passing interest?

Isn't Burnham an Evertonian anyway? Perhaps he's just winding the reds up!

Sharing a stadium with the shite is the stupidest idea ever. I haven't been for ages, so don't feel entitled to comment on the stupidity of a move to Kirkby. Just make sure Davey Moyes signs his contract
