Just one cost of a reshuffle

The picture on the right is of a house on the market in Luton (uurgggh) for £200,000. That is approximately* what could have been bought for the money Gordon Brown spent, on a whim, changing the Department of Trade and Industry to the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.

The brief stayed pretty much the same, the staff remained in place, the political master changed of course, but the Prime Minister chose to throw what many of us of struggle to attain up against the wall at the drop of a hat. The question on anyone's lips after a reshuffle should really be, how much did this actually cost us?
* £214,063 to be precise

A re-shuffle will make no difference for this government. It's crap whatever way you look at it.

Same amount that David Davis' whim cost us then.

Indeed. Only difference being that that was an exception and not the norm like reshuffles.

I'd be very surprised if the true cost of the name change (stationery, business cards, name plates everywhere etc etc) were as little as £200K

So with all the other Ministries/Departments given fancy names, there must be a million of so wasted?

How many civil servants were upgraded because of their new responsibilities?

That's a third of a penny of my money down the drain ... or 1.33 p for the house of love as a whole. Shocking.

The "regulatory reform" bit is damned ugly and obscure language. that's worse than spending my penny.

Don't believe you, because I know that quite a lot of people moved on. But there do seem to be a number of new weeds springing up in the space that it vacated.
