Watch this.....

Ask yourself this. Do you think he sounds like he means it, or do you think he sounds like someone that is reading a script and probably hates the fact he is doing it?

Seriously, Blair had the "touch". He could, like Cameron in my view, make people feel like he meant what he was saying. Brown on the other hand just appears to have a T-shirt on that says "spinner r us" all the time.

Looks like Rory Bremner doing Blair for God's sake !

Those little flashes of half-smile, usually in totally inappropriate places.

Brilliant. At least he will have a new career to go on to ...

Good heavens, I hope they don't get to see this video in Isreal. I'm sure they'll feel so insulted.

Actually, you should try watching "The Laughing PM" without any sound, its hilarious.

Unless he is outright lying about his links to Israel he comes over as sincere enough though the speech was probably smoothed up, as is usual.

As for presentation, he comes in at mid-smile then seems to forget that bit until right toward the end. How come the auto-cue was somewhere to the left of the camera ?

I wonder if he realises how much working people dislike him ? Is it because he reminds them of their former not very good Head Teacher ?

Have you noticed how Cameron now holds his press briefings with newly painted and squeeky clean windows behind him. Through the windows can be seen sunlight and fresh green trees.

That image was no accident.

I think he's over playing the links to Israel a little... I'm sure he's actually speaking about Christian Bible tours to the Holy Land in truth. [smile to camera]

As for the auto-cue? They tend only to be camera mounted on studio equipment. [nod head in voter pleasing manner] He would likely have been reading an independent unit (or even cue cards) by the side of a regular tripod mounted video camera. [smile again you dumb bastard]

Where is the passion? Where is the humanity?

Dear oh dear.As you say Dizzy, Blair had it. He could persuade opposite sides that he agreed with both of them. Brown can't even persuade his Cabinet to agree with him.
And I think Cameron has it too.
Mind you, can't help but think a lot of the muslim Labour voters might be somewhat pissed off about this.

I have blogged about Gordon Brown's appallingly insincere video messages before, his message on Countdown's 25th anniversary was a classic. The problem is that he just cannot do sincerity; he smiles at the wrong moments, he looks sad at just the wrong moment, the switch on-switch off facial emotions just look wrong. I hated Tony Blair, partly, for being just a smooth talking actor but at least he was partly convincing, Gordon Brown convinces nobody.

Still dropping the jaw at the end of sentences I see.

It's much less bad if you close your eyes.

Plus it's nice to have a respite from hearing the usual suspects such as "right long-term decisions" and "getting on with the job".

So all in all a much better speech than usual! Normally watching him I feel an overwhelming urge to bang his head repeatedly against a brick wall. This time I merely felt the urge to bang my own...
