UKIP gets its first MP

I see the new this morning is that UKIP have their first MP. Bob Spink, who recently left the Tories has decided to join UKIP and not be an independent. Apparently they didn't woo him into joining though. According to a UKIP spokesman it was a "mutual attraction based on a wish to get out of the EU and have accountability and democracy again".

I personally can't say I disagree on the leaving the EU point, but I imagine UKIP will be ploughing some serious resource in to holding on to his Castlepoint seat at the next election. It will certainly be interesting to see how much personal vote he has compared to the old adage of sticking the right colour rosette on a donkey.

Seeing Spink get an electoral kicking at the next election would bring a warm glow to my heart.

I am sure the Deputy Chairman at Castle Point will be ploughing some serious resource into giving Spink a good kicking.

Letter to the local paper The Evening Echo....

...PS I left UKIP because the local branch was inhabited by nutters who spent believed everything was a big conspiracy by the Bilderbergers and then held meeting to proove the moon landings were faked!

My neighbour was the secretary of the Southend and South Essex Branches of UKIP and he used to pull his hair out at some of their antics.

Spink will have alienated a lot of his old supporters with this move, they would have tolerated him as an completely independent MP but not as UKIP.

Spink is toast.
