Over the weekend an article surfaced that was allegedly written by Lib Dem leadership hopeful Chris Huhne from his time at Oxford. The article, in simple terms, extolled the virtue of experimenting with opium and that necking LSD wasn't so bad if you were comfortable with yourself and who you were. This latter point is largely the same for the natural hallucinogens that are so popular with shamen, and Terence McKenna as they're often perceived as a means of exploring the self, but I digress.
What I found amusing was that Huhne's response was not to flatly deny that he wrote the article as such. He simply said that he didn't recall writing it. My first thought was 'well why would you remember it if you were dropping acid and chasing the dragon at the time of it's writing?' The real point for me is that when it comes to drugs these days and what you might have done in your youth no one really cares. One day a politician will realise this and be totally honest about it.

I wonder who dug up the story and leaked it to the press? Are Clegg's team starting to play dirty, I wonder...
Don't wonder any more. Guido in February 2006 can be found via Google even by the laziest journo.
Tut , tut. No one really care what you did in your youth!
So that is why modern youth is the way it is.
16th February 2006, coincidentally 11 hours and 32 minutes after the first edition of The Times rolled off the presses with the story being broken by Andrew Pierce.
