Message in a Jacket?

All the papers this morning seem to be carrying the tale about Gordon Brown's gift from GW Bush of a rather nifty brown leather flying jacket with the Presidential seal on it and the name "Rt Hon Gordon Brown" stitched on the other side.

According to Brown sources they are "not happy" that the news of the gift leaked out which suggests it wasn't them. Now given that everyone is carrying a photo of the jacket as well suggests - unless the photo is a mock-up - that someone in the US leaked it (or there are naughty hacks with camera phones on planes).

Most of the papers are also noting how it is a similar jacket to the one Bush wore when Blair wore the gonad-crushing chinos at Camp David. Could it be that the US, see the British press making much of Brown's businessman like approach to the visit in comparison to Blair's, were simply making mischief and had the jacket made-up quick to send a signal?

We know for example that the two men had "full and frank" discussions. We also know that this is a diplomatic code for the fact that they disagreed and probably argued. Might the jacket actually be saying "I prefered the other guy"?

I hadn't, have read it now, and it explains the leak at least - sort of. However, my point remains about the possible meaning behind the gift.

I think the airline seats in the background, suggest it was the naughty hacks. The cheeky little devils.
