Bit of a ding dong going on here and here between Tim Montgomerie from ConservativeHome and Danny Finkelstein from the Times. I must say I do like the way that some parts of the mainstream media, especially the likes of Comment Central and the Spectator Coffee House in recent weeks have been engaging with sites that are purely Internet based.
Personally I actually agree more with Danny Finkelstein on this specifc point about the direction of the Conservative Party over that of Tim's. The Tory Party should not be looking backwards to the fights of the past, and instead be looking forward to the ideological battleground of the future. It's a bit like comparing Operation Market Garden to Operation Overlord.

Excellent fisk of a fisk and I find myself agreeing with Danny Finkelstein on this.
It's good that Mr Montgomerie sees Mr Finkelstein's article was important, whether or not he's willing to concede the argument. Mr Finkelstein keeps up the realpolitik pressure in his F-f-fisk.

Some activists have a problem with moving to the centre but don't confuse them with the broad mass of Tory voters. Most traditional supporters understand exactly what Cameron is doing. Look at the local election results. After all the "I'm off to join UKIP" nonsense in the Conservativehome comment section, how well did UKIP do? And how well did the Cameron Tories do?"
