The Lib Dem MEP, Chris Davies is doing well for himself this week. He kicked it off with a letter about Israel, and now he wants the European Union to ban pretty much every car. In a debate scheduled for October and based entirely on a report by Chris Davies, there will be a vote about legilsating to ban all cars that can go faster than 101mph... so that's pretty much every car on the road.
Apparently Davies is quite boastful about how he has the smallest car amongst MEPs. Perhaps what they say about feet also applies to cars and he just has an inferiority complex?

Mrs Sheppard and myself own a Nissan Figaro (you know - the thing Andrew Marr drives on his Sunday AM programme). Our is of the Lapis Grey variety - and I reckon that can even top 100 on a good day! Under one litre - but has a turbo!
My old Fiesta used to shudder if you pushed it past 80. Of course you could only get it past 80 is you had a good 10 miles of road to build up the speed and then hit a nice big downhill bit.

I want to attach a sticker to the back of his head warning about the amount of CO2 and methane he gives off.
Why can't people who believe in man-made global warming just kill themselves? That way, no more CO2 given off by their breathing, driving, consuming fossil fueled electricity at the margin, buying air freighted food from clean-green New ZEaland (plug), farting, etc.
I'm just after a car with fine gauze in the air intakes. To keep out the africanised bees. If it can go faster than the spread of the killer bees progress toward us (and last time I looked that was, like, zero) all well and good. ANd it mustn't have any computers on board. Y3K, don't you know. I won't need a recepticle for carrying those avian birds.
Why does anyone need a car that can travel faster then 100 mph? They are only useful on racetracks where speed is the whole point.
Cars aren't utilitarian.
