John Simpson - BBC bias

There was a brilliant example of an assumed position this evening on the BBC. On the "Gordon Brown Question Time" on Newsnight, John Simpson, speaking from Kabul said, and I paraphrase,
Many people have said that Tony Blair is George Bush's poodle and has surrendered British foreign policy to the USA. Are you going to be same? Are you going to have an independent foreign policy?"
So.. an "impartial" hack says that many people think something, and then asks two question which clearly suggest he himself is one of those very people?

Classic example of BBC bias.

You know what really pisses me off though? I watch News 24 every morning before setting off to work, and their 'banter' between the sports reporter and weather girl just makes me want to kick my TV in. I watch Sky News now, which compared to the BBC is quite refreshing.

ad scott - What a boring little anecdote. I'm sure you have a million of them.

Dizzy, John Simpson is notorious. I do not understand how people of this low quality - intellectual and moral - manage to cling on to their jobs in the BBC. I suspect it's not even by their fingernails.

The answer to all these issues is ultimately the same - the licence fee. John Simpson is absurdly self-important, but he's well dug in to the Establishment. And while whether the newsreaders themselves dance or not becomes news itself, and the weather girls become "personalities" and the sports report is another "It's a knockout" we can be sure that the same cliques hold sway, and market forces are not a consideration.

Boring anecdote I'm sure it was Verity, but I'm glad you took time out of your busy schedule to read it x

Describing John Simpson as a man of poor intellectual and moral quality is simply untrue. He may be guilty of bias, but an evil dunce he is not.

For all the BBC's faults, its virtues heavily outweigh them. Under no circumstances should the licence fee be stopped.

ad scott - don't be put off by Verity.

The fact she assumes the right to quality control comments is based on her own amazing ability to "know things". Something to do, apparently, with her previous existence as a human being. I believe she has been interred in Mexico for several hundred years but is dug up by her relatives every so often to make sure she is dead.

Simpson is like Jeremy Bowen. Pro-Arab. Fu*k him.

Under no circumstances should the licence fee be continued. Extortion funded entertainment is a moral abomination. I'm proud to be one of the 1 in 10 (probably more) who now refuse to fund this cancer on the U.K.
