Interesting tale over at
Iain's blog about Gordon Brown's spinning of his Sunday terrorism announcements. It seems that part of the operation was to strong arm all papers into not carrying anything from any opposition politicians, or lose their briefing rights. Iain also has another
piece about the supposed "ordinary girl" that met Gordon Brown on the tube and then was intrviewed by Time Magazine.

Brown will leave a stain.
What DOES the future hold?
I'm looking forward to Tories backing off from er, "impression management", under A Coulson.
Is Iain speculating, reporting speculation, or reporting speculation about speculation?
In his piece Iain alludes to the supine Lobby and the role they play in facilitating spinning in general and this Brown deception in particular.
It seems to me that it's not much use having a free press if they won't say boo to the spinners. Surely the Lobby and their editors are capable of banding together and refusing to be party to the deceitful manipulation of the public. The politicians would soon discover an element of honesty if they were denied the publicity they crave.
Anybody know why the lobby is so compliant?

"Anybody know why the lobby is so compliant?"
Thoughts of peerage perhaps?
