Benn leads CLP nominations

The results of supporting nominations from constituency Labour parties are in for the Deputy Leadership it seems and Benn is leading the way. Of the 309 CLPs to nominate their support the ranking goes like this.
  1. Benn 77
  2. Cruddas 68
  3. Harman 60
  4. Johnson 45
  5. Blears 36
  6. Hain 23
No one likes the tanned Liberal it seems. The real question is whether the Newsnight thing and other events have changed things since then.

There is the question of the media and who they "endorse" whether it it is fromally or tacitly. As yet the Guardian has still not come out for anyone, if they go for Johnson then it could create a late surge in all this arbitrary number crunching analysis.

One thing we can be sure of, the first eviction on Big Brother will get more votes than all of them together.

You mean to say this isn't Big Brother?

"since then" Dizzy? Most of these nominations were done in the last 48 hours before the book closed at 12:30 pm yesterday. Almost all made after Newsnight.

Most commentators are not understanding that while all the nominations are first past the post the real contest is by exhaustive transfers and therefore the nominations are a very poor guide to the state of play.

It never ceases to amaze me how you post coments acting all clever, then close of saying what I said above. It hik I was pretty clear that this was all "arbitrary number crunching analysis". So for you to say "therefore the nominations are a very poor guide to the state of play" suggests that instead of reading, and crucially, understanding what I wrote you just head off like a tit in a trance and type.
