Have you been named after a politician?

Danny Finkelstein over at Comment Central has another one of his little competitions going, this time looking for people who have been, or know anyone who has been, named after a politician in some way.

As it happens, the reason I chose the name "dizzy" was because I had just read a book which for the most part was about Disraeli. Dizzy was the first thing that popped into my head when I was starring at the set-up screen.

And, of course, the computer games had nothing to do with your selection? Man, I haven't seen a Dizzy game in donkey's years.

Its as good a reason as any and as good a name as any.

Funny, I was wondering this week if that was where you sourced the name.

You raised the bar high.

The game came afterwards when I was trying to think of a logo.

Interesting. Thought you would turn out to be a Gillespie but that idea was blown when you appeared on Doughty. But the other Dizzy was rather down on the validity of statistics ... and you're not exactly with him on that.

Put on that Dizzy Gillespie once at the Manchester Palace Theatre. He was longing after Petulia (sic) Clark who he said did marry a trumpeter ...

His band of gannets had eaten the after show rider and the hotel got him Melons instead.
