Empty Government offices

If the rest of Government is like Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs then I hate to think how much taxpayers money is being frittered on empty unstaffed offices that are still being maintained. Apparently HMRC has 12 offices that are unstaffed and costs them £1,435,512 each year to run.

Apparently they are "working to cease [the] liability for these offices as soon as is practical." Frankly, I don't think that's really good enough. If the question hadn't been asked would they still being doing so I wonder? The real question though is still, if HMRC have 12 offices empty and draining funds, what about the rest?
