Sparkling Wiggles?

How odd, less than a day after I posted about about how some small children just learning to speak have problems pronouncing the name of the Ninky Nonk in the new CBeebies TV show craze I've had my attention drawn to a YouTube video that has caused quite a storm with a similar theme.

The little girl below appears to have problems pronouncing "sparkling wiggles". The video has been viewed over 2.5million times and the number of response, both written and in video format are quite staggering.

It seem pretty clear from the video (I think) that the little girl doesn't actually have any idea of what she is actually saying, and genuinely thinks she is saying what she is being asked to say. The question that it does raise of course is whether the parents are somehow complicit in some darker act by first encouraging her to say this on video, and second posting it on YouTube.

Personally speaking, I would not ever post a video of my child on YouTube, either mispronouncing the Ninky Nonk, or saying anything else for that matter simply because the Internet is full of weirdos. Anyway, here's the video, leave a comment, irresponsible parents? Racist? Or just a kid who can't speak properly? As a parent watching language develop with my own eyes I am not in the least bit surprised that strange sounding things emanate from the mouths of babes.

N.B. Wiggles has now become slang ins ome american quarters for the word she seems to say as a result. Apparently it used to just mean a person one had no respect for.

Of course children mispronounce words as they are learning to speak. For several months my eldest was convinced that butterflies emerged from coons. However I certainly wouldn’t have goaded him into continually repeating his peculiar pronunciation on camera and then posting. This is unpleasant and I hope that the parents are thoroughly ashamed of themselves

ok well the whole viedo was racist and uncalled for;but it's the parents fault. their probally racist letting their little daughter continue on like that she dident know what she was saying

You lost me at "I would not never..." Please tell me you're not home-schooling. Hopefully, your children will grow up having a better command of the English language.

It's called a typo Barry, the word "never" should read "ever" I have fat fingers. Please tell me you're not home-schooling though ("home-schooling" is a real seppo phrase isn't it?). Hopefully your children won't grow up to be pendantic titheads. Thanks for dropping by though.

And Imus gets fired for saying "nappy headed hoes"... Someone should write to Al Sharpton and have these parents put in jail. They are sick and twisted for putting their child up to such an act and then posting it on the web. Hopefully someone will find out who these idiots are and make them pay. Disgusting.

It's funny. If you disagree, that's cool, you're entitled to that opinion. But saying that the video, which is probably mocking racism, is racist, is just plain ignorant and close-minded. When the child tries to say "sparkling wiggles", she accidentally says something racist instead. The child is obviously completely innocent, because she has no idea what she's saying. The parents, just like anyone else in the world who doesn't have a stick up their ass, found it funny. Thus, they recorded it and uploaded it, to share the hilarity with the world. Yes the parents made her say it along with classic racist phrases, but that's just to add to the humor and possibly mock racism.

Either way Jews and Blacks fight for the most shitted on race award.

It's absolutely hysterical. Anyone who's offended needs to get off of their high horse, and anyone who thinks it's racist should quit being so PC. When I was her age I couldn't put the 'sp' sound together either and as a result my Spunky Cat was Fucking Cat.

Brilliant. These little words aren't nearly as destructive as sparkling wiggles are themselves. In every area in which sparkling wiggles become a majority, civilization is in decline. Inner city after inner city has been destroyed by sparkling wiggles. So too have schools and school districts. The modern egalitarian fantasy that races are equal in every respect is a damnable lie disprove by evidence that is now legion. Isn't it amazing that EVERY predominately black nation is an impoverished backwater that contributes nothing to intellectual advancement? You think that's just a horrible coincidence? Hurray for these parents. The truth shall set us free.

There are no sparking wiggles here either. Maybe they went out and got a job, so I don't have to pay for all of them any more.
