Labour employs manager to hassle the nearly dead for money?

When I clicked on the "legacy" section on the Labour website i was expecting to see something about all the great things Tony had done for us and why Tony was great. I must admit I was surprised when I realised it was actually a section tapping up members for money when they pop their clogs - in other word, leave a legacy" for Labour.

Now this isn't, per se a bad thing to hope for, many people leave money to different causes when they die. However, this is the first time I've come across an organisation that not only ahas dedicated section on their website for it, but also employs someone solely to manage it all under the euphemistic title, "Labour Legacy Manager".

What a job huh? Paid to remind people they are going to die and tap them up at the same time! I love the cut and paste guide for people who are drawing up their Will so they can easily insert bit at their leisure though.
"I GIVE to the Labour Party of 39 Victoria Street, London, SW1H 0HA, the sum of XX pounds [sum in words] £XX [sum in figures] free of Inheritance Tax for its general purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer for the time being or other duly authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge to my [Executor(s)/Trustees]"
Lloyd George thought death was "the ideal time to tax rich people", Labour thinks it's the best time to tax* their members! **
* the term tax here is used colloquially
** Clearly I am taking the piss

If Labour can ramp up their effort to make us all wish we were dead, this could be a real moneyspinner.

Dizzy - the Tories have a whole special orgaisation devoted to tapping those writing their wills - it's called The Conservative Party Association and aws (I think) one of Jeremy Hanley's ideas.
