That this House notes that the former manager of Liverpool FC, the late Bob Paisley, was the most successful football manager in the game's history in the UK winning in nine seasons six league titles (runners up twice), three League Cups, one UEFA Cup, one European Super Cup, five Charity Shields, three European Cups, 21 Manager of the Month and Six Manager of the Year awards; further notes that he was highly respected and held in great affection for his outstanding knowledge and experience of the game and for his modesty as immortalised by his words "Mind you, I wasn't only here for the good years; one year we came second'; and supports the petition on the Downing Street website for him to be awarded a posthumous knighthood.Clearly this is an outrageous abuse of the EDM system, a complete waste of taxpayers money, and I'm sure Peter Black, Nich Starling and Stephen Tall would agree with me.
After all, the man was a red! And just like the Murphy's, I'm not bitter. Oh yes, and I hate Barcelona now for being woefully poor last night.

Isn't there a petition somewhere to stop ANY honours, which are abused by ALL parties, one of the worst being that a Manc manager paid for his knighthood with a contribution to party funds?

I am so glad that this was a subject that one MP saw fit to bring up at PMQs today (Why wont MPs ask the questions that we all want answered like why despite the increase in taxes we are seeing no improvement whatsoever in our public services)This MP is a disgrace and her constituents should be ashamed of her - I am sure they have many more problems in liverpool than trying to arrange an honour for someone who passed away years ago.
Of course I agree with you 100%. EDM's serve a purpose for backbenchers to gain publicity for something in their constituency or to raise concern about an important issue relating to a constituent. However, this type of headline grabbing "political graffiti" serves no purpose and is a waste of time, other that allowing people to have the chance to be full of their own pompous self importance.
