We "open" your letters straight away!

I've not moaned about "disproportionate costs" for a while now, it was getting quite boring and it really was amazing how many times they would hide behind the excuse in awkward situations. Rarely though have they made me laugh out loud when they've done it, until now.

Yesterday, Mark Francois MP, asked the Chancellor of Exchequer what the "backlog is of unopened letter in HM Revenue and Customs". In response, Dawn Primarolo informed him that a "count of unopened items" is not maintained, because "HMRC processes require that letters received from customers are opened on the day of receipt"

The next question - as one would hope from an inquisitive MP such as Francois, second guessed the answer and thus so followed up by asking what the backlog of letters "yet to be answered" was. Bet you can't guess what the answer was can you? Made me laugh anyway.

"Customers"? Victims more like.

Dawn Primarolo is dreadful, for my money (for now Gordon) she's the worst minister in this sad and sorry administration. What is it with her voice?
