How amusing, Gordon Brown, the man who doubled the airport tax he had previously halved on the grounds that he was a big environmental greenie has been caught out yet again as a talker, rather than a doer on such matters.
When asked how much the Exchequer has spent on carbon offsetting its air travel in the last year, the Treasury's response was that it had been "measuring the carbon emissions for the office estate since 1999" and that it will "expect to pay £32,577 per annum".
In other words, its spent nothing on offsetting in the last year. Now, given everyone knows the Treasury will be run by someone else very soon it probably won't start spending anything on it either.

the legacy: a comedy of terrors
The breathtaking new novel that has the whole of the Conservative Party chattering!
The tale chronicles the progression of unbridled governance, its demise and inevitable descent into hubris.
The work’s title, subject matter and its reasonance with the public are obvious, but it is absolutely bulging with handy quotables and chic wisdom as well.
