A little bit of patent searching

There's no doubt about it that in the past couple of years the extension to Google's available services has been rather cool. From Froogle, to GMail, to the personalised homepage features. However, one thing that I discovered the other week and have been playing about with ever since has been Google Patents - over 7 million searchable US Patents.

You'd be amazed some of the bizarre things that get registered. For example, from mildly amusing motorcycle mounted dog carriers (pictured) to things that make you shout "nooooooooooooooooo!" (warning, link may offend, make you wince, or both).

I did warn you. I nearly broke my laptop by spilling coffee on it when I stumbled across it.

"Penis locking and lacerating vaginal insert"

Reading the description, it sounds like a nu-lab orgy.

Alternativly, Ruth Kelly I think, would be in her element together with her opus dei buddies.

You couldn't make it up. Very sick - but funny.

Can't for the life of me work out how Dizzy would "stumble" on such a thing. Unless searching for 'penis', 'vagina' or 'lacerating device'.

Stumbled across it? Searching for 'penis', 'vagina' or 'lacerating'?

Actually the search term was "chastity". I had just read in the QI Book of General Ignorance that chastity belts were an invention of the Renaissance rather than Medieval period. Thought I'd throw it in and see what happened.
