If Virginia falls then the next two years will be ugly

The other week I posted about the possibility of a repeat of the last two year of the Clinton administration, only they would be in reverse. As it stands we look like we're halfway there. The House has fallen to the Democrats and now a recount is going on in Virginia for the last Senate seat.

If the Democrats win that seat then the "vast left wing conspiracy" - a phrase I use entirely sarcastically to describe the reversal of fortune - will be in place. Expect calls for Presidential impeachment and constant and vicous personality politics targetting every action Bush has ever done.

Like I say, remember how it was for Clinton in his last two years and then flip it on its head. If Virginia falls it is the American people who will suffer as the years of frustration on the Democrat side boil over with vigour. The good news is that it will only be for two years, then they'' be a a first term President again.

but surely this is great news. The less the government does in America the richer the citizens get.

It is the genius of their political system to ensure there is always a chance to get rid of runaway governments before they get over-excited.

Now I agree, the Deomcrats have some loopy and damaging ideas. But Bush will veto those anyway.

For a moment; imagine in this country the Lords being able to block all NuLab proposals unless watered down.

No new tax rises, no ID cards, no anti-liberal home office legislation.

The HoR can impeach Bush whether or not Virginia chooses a Democratic senator. Impeachment is a complete waste of time because to find Bush guilty requires a 2/3 majority in the Senate and this Republican debacle has not gone that far.

I didn't say the HoR couldn't impeach him wihtout holding the Senate. my point was far more political rather than procedural. If the Democrats win the Senate it will give them added impetus to just cause maximum mischief and trouble for Bush. Especially with the last two years of Clinton's administration in their minds when the same sort of thing happened to them.

It matters not if they can successfully impeach, what matters to them is special prosecuter, investigations, scandal and just generally raking the Bush Administration through the coals.
