I am not a pedant. I'm being pedantic

The additonal entry added to the Register of Members Interest on September 19th 2006 by the Prime Minister says: "December 2005, following official talks with the King of Jordan, the King provided return air travel from Jordan to Egypt for my wife and me."

Surely "my wife and I"? Maybe Public School education is not all its cracked up to be?

Try deleting the words "my wife and..".

"The King provided... for I"?

No, he's right. The use is determined by what would make sense if the words "my wife and" were deleted. So "the King provided return air travel from Jordan to Egypt for I" would be incorrect while "the King provided return air travel from Jordan to Egypt for me" is quite correct. However, if the sentence was "[insert expression] enjoyed air travel provided by the King of Jordan it should read "My wife and I" not "My wife and me" because the sentence would run "I enjoyed" not "Me enjoyed".

Actually it's correct in the original form. To decide which option (I/Me) to use, remove the additional noun construct.

eg.
"for my wife and me" minus "my wife and" becomes "for me"

"My wife and I would like to" minus "My wife and" becomes "I would like to"

Good to see the Internet remains as predictable as ever when it comes to certain subjects.

Now, should I write something about abortion and see what happens?

"My wife and me" just doesn't sound right, though don j's comment is true.

Whatever is correct, Bliar hardly went to a public school. Fettes is down there with, well,it's down THERE anyway.
We always referred to them as FETS WETS.

It's (not its) really rather dependent upon which system you learned your grammar in Dizzy.

There is something truly beautiful about grammar nazism I can't deny it. Thank you all for participating, you're all wonderful. Tim get's a prize for pointing out my obvious error. Its surprising to me that it took so long ;-) I shall ignore that little stirrer Dale!
